Kariss has twenty years of publishing experience under her belt, which explains the “can-do, stay calm under pressure” attitude she brings to the Word Up office. Having gained a BA in Writing & Publishing, she joined Pearson, where she worked for almost ten years.

Her last in-house role was Editorial Manager for Africa, the Caribbean and the UAE, leading a team that produced and supplied millions of textbooks and digital components to schools and universities around the globe. Kariss now works as a project manager.

Author & Editor

Michelle is an experienced author and editor who applies a methodical and vigilant approach to her work. With a first-class honours degree in Primary Education and an MA in Education, she has been teaching for over twenty years — from primary level through to adult learners.

She combines these roles with that of Principal Examiner in Maths for City & Guilds, and volunteers for The Social Mobility Foundation, supporting young adults on their paths to higher education. Michelle's passion to inspire people through education drives her to ensure Word Up delivers outstanding content.
